p>The Beano's Dennis, Gnasher and Walter join Minecraft By Emily Thomas Newsbeat reporter

/p>

p>Minecraft players need to watch out for "softy" Walter and his stinky pants.

/p>

p>Walter, Dennis the Menace and his dog Gnasher, from The Beano, can now be added to PC versions of the game.

/p>

p>Gnasher can be turned into as a sausage by players, and all of Dennis' pranks, such as catapults and stink bombs, can be used.

/p>

p>It's part of the Beano's bigger plans to expand into digital and its game has been born out of a partnership between the show and Frima Studios, a Canadian multiplatform game developer.

/p>

p>Mark Cotton, who is leading the Beano's digital changes Mark Cotton, who is leading the Beano's digital transformations, said to Newsbeat: "If you talk to any 7 - to 11-year-old child, Minecraft is their biggest passion and love."

/p>

p>Mark says that the game is an "extension" of the comic and an attempt to make The Beano "a more overall experience" for kids.

/p>

p>He states that 32,000 comics are sold every week of the Beano which is an impressive number.

/p>

p>But it's still far less than the two million sold at the magazines' peak.

/p>

p>"We are aware that children today are captivated by digital media," says Mark.

/p>

p>"We have to transform The Beano into an all-encompassing brand where Dennis and Gnasher is everywhere children are, instead of expecting that they will come to us.

/p>

p>"So we're working on an entire series over the next three to six month."

/p>

p>Some of these initiatives include puzzle apps as well as an interactive comic and an "action 3D game for children".

/p>

p>DC Thompson, The Beano's publisher has already expanded The Beano brand to a TV show and a photo-sharing application and a YouTube? channel. https://www.vingle.net/posts/4770831 </p>

p>Grand Theft Auto?

/p>

p>The comic has been in existence since 1938, and has many adult readers. The Beano characters may also make an appearances in adult games, such as Dennis the Menace in Grand Theft Auto.

/p>

p>"No. It's not something we'd be focusing on right now," says Mark.

/p>

p>"We're focusing on the 7 to 11-year-old digital product at the moment, digital is about engaging with kids and understanding their passions."

/p>

p>They've been working with a group of 10 Minecraft and Beano fans aged 7-11 throughout the creation process.

/p>

p>Minnie the Minx

/p>

p>"We basically asked kids"If you were to put Beano into Minecraft What do you think you would see?

/p>

p>"This was the beginning of what they had in mind. Obviously their imaginations go far beyond what we can possibly do at the moment.

/p>

p>"But they wanted Pranks, they wanted Walter They wanted Gnasher, they wanted to dress up as Dennis and that's the thing we've given them.

/p>

p>"We'll continue to talk to them. We want to expand this and create Beanotown so that kids can be creative.

/p>

p>"Minecraft is so popular because it gives children the power. If we try to constrain the kids and tell them what they should do, they'd be unable to accept it."

/p>

p>Are there any other characters that could be allowed to participate in?

/p>

p>"We certainly want to extend it," says Mark.

/p>

p>"Minnie the Minx is the most obvious character and the one that the kids have been asking about, so I'm going to consider next."
