p>Virtual world-building game Minecraft is played by millions of children worldwide can be used in schools to teach children Chemistry.

p>A group of students from Hull University created an educational version of the game. It lets players investigate molecular structures designed specifically for them and to understand the chemistry behind them.

p>Our goal is to engage young scientists in engaging and enjoyable ways.
/p>
p>Minecraft players use building blocks to create landscapes and structures.
/p>
p>They are also encouraged to find treasures and other things.
/p>
p>'Fiendishly difficult'
/p>
p>Joel Mills, a Minecraft expert at the university and Dr Mark Lorch, a senior lecturer in biological chemical chemistry, helped the students create the project.
/p>
p>Dr. Lorch stated that "Minecraft is an incredible tool for exploring structures of landscapes and buildings, as well as anatomy."
/p>
p>"So why not molecules?" We showed it to a group of kids the other day, and there were lots of gasps and wows.
/p>
p>"This draws their attention. It is a really novel method of engaging them and providing information to them."
/p>
p>As well as the chemistry and structures Students have designed many other exciting things for kids to explore and discover.
/p>
p>Dr Lorch said: "You can just explore and read about the molecules. But there are also a whole load of treasure chests dotted around packed with treasures, puzzles and quiz books.
/p>
p>"Some are easy to find but others are extremely difficult. You'll probably have learned a fair amount of chemistry if it's possible to locate them all.
/p>

p>Dr Lorch who also plays an obligation to inspire young people with science, said: "If I've given them this information in a Minecraft world and then shown them how to access it, then they're much more likely to go and discover more about it than if I have presented it in the form of a PowerPoint? presentation."

p>The Hull team is currently experimenting with the game, dubbed MolCraft? in a variety of secondary schools in London as part of a variety of university outreach projects.

p>It's also available on Minecraft's educational library, which contains versions for teachers and pupils.

p>This isn't the first time Minecraft has been used to help children engage with science-related topics.

p>A new world has been created to teach quantum physics. Many schools in Northern Ireland have adapted it to encourage writing and creativity and to engage young people in city planning.
