I think they are a great way to get your <a href="http://avwdlolzmfp.com">wriintg</a> out there, get a critique, see who likes it and who doesn't, and of course if you final, get it under the eyes of an editor or agent.That being said, I think you have to take all the criticism as constructive and some with a grain of salt.  Its like when an author sends their book to a reviewer.  Some will like it and some won't.I judge around a dozen contests a year and chaired one this year and will chair another next year.  I think they are important to a writer's career.Have I ever entered?  Yes.  I entered a WD contest for suspense I wrote, but they didn't send back results or what judges thought, so I never entered there again.  When I first started <a href="http://avwdlolzmfp.com">wriintg</a> romance I entered one, can't even remember the name of it now, but I got SLAMMED!  It broke my heart, and that is actually when I started judging, because I just couldn't understand how someone could be so cruel.  After that I was published and never entered another contest again until here, three years later I entered Dawn Halliday's <a href="http://avwdlolzmfp.com">wriintg</a> contest, and made it past the first two rounds.  Boosted my ego enough to enter Lori Brighton's <a href="http://avwdlolzmfp.com">wriintg</a> contest, which I've also made past the first two rounds.Good luck!
