p>Following a massive hoax bomb that shut down hundreds of colleges and schools across the UK, a teenager believed to be at the heart of a Minecraft gamers' feud was detained.

p>The 19-year-old was detained by Hertfordshire police after some 24,000 threatening emails were sent to schools warning of imminent bomb attacks if cash wasn't handed over.

p>The emails were faked to appear as if they were sent by a gaming network known as VeltPvP. VeltPvP, a Minecraft player-versus-player server is the same type of service that businesses use to sell their products to gamers.

p>The National Crime Agency (NCA) said that there was no evidence of threat to the emails that were received this week.

p>The hoaxer blamed VeltPvP for a campaign of Direct Denial of Service attacks (DDoS) that claimed to be used to stop other Minecraft servers.

p>Parents were urged to collect their children following the threat of a bomb hoax email

p>In an official statement, VeltPvP said: 'We've been being harassed by a group of cybercriminals that are trying to smear us in every way they can.

/p>

p>"We are deeply sorry for those who were affected by this, but we just want to inform you that it is fake."

/p>

p>More than 400 schools and colleges across the country received an email that claimed a bomb had been planted and would explode in the event that money wasn't transferred.

p>Cardinal Road School, Feltham, West London was one of the schools that received the hoax email

/p>

p>Police forces in London, Bristol, Liverpool, Bedfordshire and the the North East were among those investigating.

/p>

p>Parents at some schools requested to be able pick their children up despite concerns over the emails.

p>While six schools across Hertfordshire were also among those affected: Abbots Hill in Hemel Hempstead, Valley School in Stevenage, The Sele School in Hertford, Duncombe School in Hertford, Stanborough School in Watford and St Albans High School.
